garrtim :

hello, is the check engine light coming on at all?

garrtim :

when is the last time the spark plugs and wires were replaced?

Customer:

no check engine light. Been maybe a year since spark plugs & wires been changed.

Customer:

Do you think I'm having transmission problems?

garrtim :

With the age of the vehiocle -- my next step would be to put an external fuel pressure gauge on it to monitor the fuel pressure when this is happening - to make sure we have a good fuel supply -- if fuel supply is ok -- the next step i would do is replace teh oxygen sensors-- possibly getting weak and causing poor air fuel mixture

Customer:

Is that the cause of the rpms jumping and getting off track?

garrtim :

that is correct

Customer:

I should just go ahead and put it in the shop? How do you know its just not transmission problems?

garrtim :

most of the time if tranmsission related -- we would have a check engine light most of the time

Customer:

OK. Thank You so much!!!!

garrtim :

thank you and good luck -- if you are all set -please click the accept button, tim
