2003 Chrysler Sebring: LXI..cylinder..The oil light flickers

Resolved Question:

I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible LXI 6 cylinder with 51k miles on the engine. The oil light flickers when the car is stopped in gear, but goes out when moving off. What could that be? I drove it from Florida last January with no oil light showing, except when stopped in gear.

Welcome to Just Answer Chrysler my name is Mark.

This will likely be caused by one of 2 things.

First, you may have a bad oil pressure sending unit that is causing the light to come on for no reason. This would be corrected by simply replacing the sending unit.

The second option is going to be caused by low engine oil pressure and this would be caused by internal engine wear that would require an engine overhaul.

To determine which one is actually the root cause you will need to have the actual oil pressure tested and match the readings against the specs for this engine.
