REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative remote cable from remote ground post .
  2. Raise vehicle.

  1. Remove three bolts attaching starter to engine.
  2. Remove battery positive feed wire from starter.
  3. Remove starter solenoid assembly from transmission housing. Position the starter to gain access to the Connector Positive Assurance (CPA) wiring connector.
  4. Position jack stand beneath engine and slightly lift to relieve pressure from left engine mount.
  5. Remove three left engine mount mounting bolts from engine block.
  6. Jack engine up slightly to give more room to maneuver starter assembly.
  7. Slide rear of starter motor out between catalyst and engine mount.
  8. Disconnect posi-lock starter solenoid connector.
  9. Remove the starter from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse the above procedures. Clean corrosion/dirt from the cable and wire terminals before installing wiring to the solenoid.

Reconnect posi-lock connector right after starter is placed into position.

i have performed most of the steps above except removing the battery positive feed from the starter. is this located on the front of the selenoid with a bolt. if so, i have removed the bolt but am unable to remove the positive feed. suggestions

The positive cable will just pull right off when the nut is removed. That is the fatter cable that goes to the starter. Sometimes you may have to wiggle it just a bit to break it loose.
