Customer Question

WHAT CAUSES THE ON DASH BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT TO COME ON INTERMINTLY WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW 10 DEGREES f. AFTER RELEASING THE PARK BRAKE?XXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Country: United States
Make: Chrysler
Model: Sebring
Year: 2008
Engine: 2.4 liter

Already Tried:
NOTHING, I AM THINKING THAT IT IS STRANGE THAT THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AFTER THE PARK BRAKE HAS BEEN RELEASED AND THEN A LITTLE LATER IT GOES OUT. WITHIN A 1/2 MILE. SHOULD I HAVE IT LOOKED AT. COULD THAT CONDITION BE CAUSED BY A LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER.

Thanks for using JA.

Yes the condition could be caused be low brake fluid, either because of a leak or worn brake friction material.

But it also could be the E/brake switch because the handle isn't released all the way.

check the brake fluid level if low, then you'll need to have the brakes checked all around.

if the level is good, focus on the release switch for the e/brake handle.

Customer replied 779 days and 17 hours ago.

hauto, is there a particular brand of brake fluid to purchase if it is low?

The brand doesn't matter, but it's got be dot4, or dot3.

dot stands for department of transportation. Thank you
