1999 Cirrus: with a V6 engine.Gates..timing belt..different specs..oe

Resolved Question:

Re: Timing belts

I have a 1999 Cirrus with a V6 engine.
Gates, in their Replacement Recomendations, say that the timing belt in this engine should be replaced at 100,000
miles in CA,CT & MA, otherwise at 60,000 miles. What is this business about different specs for CA, CT & MA? Is the same OE belt supplied in these states? Are the different intervals prescribed just to conform to state laws?

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

Hi my name is John.

They use the same timing belt, it just like you said it the states doing this.
On 1995-97 Avenger & Sebring Coupe CA vehicles, replacement at 60,000 mile intervals is recommended but not required. On 1998-2000 Avenger & Sebring Coupe CA, CT & MS models, replacement at 60,000 mile intervals is recommended but not required. On all other Avenger & Sebring Coupe models, replace every 100,000 miles (if not previously replaced). On 1995-98 Cirrus, Sebring Convertible & Stratus models, replacement at 105,000 mile intervals is recommended but not required. On 1999 Sebring Convertible & 1999-2000 Cirrus & Stratus models, replace every 105,000 miles or 84 months. On 2000 Sebring Convertible vehicles, replace every 105,000 miles or 84 months.
