2005 Dodge caravan: power window regulators..mechanism..entire system

Resolved Question:

Is replacing power window regulators/system on a 2005 Dodge caravan fairly easy.
I removed the panel - unbolted the gear mechanism from the motor, removed the motor cover to check the brushes (they seem OK) and then removed the gear from the motor and used the switch to see if the actual motor worked - it did but only a few times before it stopped.

Based on what I have done to check the system in your opinion should I be able to replace the entire system?

Hi,

Yes, you should be able to replace the window motor and regulator yourself at this point- easier if you purchase it as one assembly motor and regulator together:

REMOVAL

  1. Remove the watershield.

I understand with the door panel completly removed. How do I remove the lock mechanism and switch wiring for the locks and window? I should be OK but I am working on the drivers side window

Hi,

You shouldnt need to remove those. Once you have the window disengaged from the regulator and have regulator unbolted, you will pull the assembly out and installing the new one does require some wiggling to get it in place.
