Customer Question

I had to remove the passenger side bumper end cover on my 2008 Silverado 1500 and replace it due to accident. Now my horns do not work or my courtesy light does not work. Is it possible that I blew a fuse unplugging and plugging the connector on the headlight? What else could cause the problem?
JA: Do all the fuses have the correct amperage for the circuits they're in?
Customer: I did not change any of the factory fuses.
JA: Are you fixing your Silverado 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes. I am just now troubleshooting by studying diagrams.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No.

O.k.,the first thing to check here is to make sure the Horn fuse in the under hood fuse panel is o.k.This is fuse 30 and is a 15 amp fuse.If it is o.k. let me know so we can continue from here.

Looking for my meter. Fuse is a 10a. Does not look burned.
Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

That is odd as my info shows it as a 15 amp.

Does one of the terminals the fuse seats into have power with the horn pad pressed on at all?In this same fuse panel do you hear or feel the horn relay click when pressing on the horn pad at all?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Fuse is good.
Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

Does it have power on one terminal when the horn is pressed and does the horn relay click at all when the horn pad is pressed?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Horn no working.
Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

Let me know if you received my last replies here?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I did. Did not hear click. Where is horn relay?
Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

After re checking this here the horn relay is actually built into the under hood fuse panel itself.it is not serviced separately.

If you jiggle the turn signal switch do the horn and lights work then at all?

The horn relay is built into the fuse panel. It isnt seen or serviced separate of the fuse panel assembly itself. This is the entire assembly that all of the under hood fuses seat into.

Check the power feeds into the under hood fuse panel and see if any cables are found to be loose or damaged in any way needing tightened or repaired. If this is or was already done let me know.
