The Battery died, when I went to jump start it the horn went

The Battery died, when I went to jump start it the horn went off and all the gauges spiked.
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: I replaced the Battery and as soon as tghe Pos terminal was connected the horn went off again
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: Malibu 2002
JA: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just replacing the battery,
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Are there any anti theft or security lights on or flashing on the dash/cluster when trying to start the engine?

I didn't notice any, but like I said the the gauges did peg when I was starting the car I have jump started the car before and never had this issue
