Trying to replace power seat recliner motor. Don't know how

Customer Question

trying to replace power seat recliner motor. Don't know how to remove it from the seat pivot rod. Can you advise?
JA: How many miles are on the car? Is it an automatic or a manual transmission?
Customer: 295,000 km. Automatic.
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 2008 avalanche 5.3 flex fuel
JA: Are you fixing your Avalanche yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: have removed seat and covers. just trying to get out the seat recliner motor
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: switch seemed to be conducting. other seat functions are ok. so i am down to suspecting the motor, although I havent put power directly to the motor to test it. thought I'd remove it first.

Hi my name is***** to JustAnswer. Let me look up the procedure for the seat recliner motor.

Expert:  Jake Cheek replied 21 days ago.

The seat motor is unfortunately serviced as an assembly. The seat back will need to be replaced. I can look up the seat back removal procedures if that will help?

Customer: replied 21 days ago.
I can replace the motor if I remove it correct? Or do I need to remove the whole seat back from the seat bottom?
Expert:  Jake Cheek replied 21 days ago.

From GM there is no replacement motor, only the seat back assembly. I can not say if an aftermarket company has made a replacement though.

Here is a diagram of the bolts to remove the seat back. There should be a connector as well after you get the cover and cushion off. Sorry, I wish I had better news!
