2005 trail blazer Lt., 4.2l code p0305. #5 coil missfire,

Customer Question

2005 trail blazer Lt. , 4.2l code p0305. #5 coil missfire , valve cover gasket leaking oil , replace #5 coil, relaxed valve cover gasket, also replaced spark plugs and boots, code 305 went away, still have a miss, now I have a code p0300 mutible miss fire, I double checked torque on intake manifold bolts 85 in lb. righted in sequence. everything is plugged in , checked fuses OK. wondering if I could have a bad intake or maybe when I replaced valve cover gasket I moved the intake back out of the way , I did not remove it, maybe gasket misaligned

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I'm here to help get your problem solved.

If intake was problem you would most likely have lean codes. Does it run any better at highway or at idle? Does check engine light flash? Thanks.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
it has lack of power on accellerator, at idle has very distinct miss. lite stays on steady. I haven't taken it on highway .

With lack of power does it seem like it has a RPM limiter such as not want to go over 3000 rpm? Thanks.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
no not rpm limiter, just lack of power

I'd start by checking spark strength on each cylinder, you may have another failed coil. Let me know, thanks.
