Installing leds rear do not have a tester. have three wires

installing leds rear do not have a tester. have three wires for brake and turn signals (black , brown and blue) in that order would like to know which is the ground and which is the signal wire. so i can install a resistor. veh is 2003 chevy avalanche Z71
JA: Have you checked the fuse?
Customer: why
JA: Are you fixing your Avalanche yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just started with the wires in the taillights
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: all I need to know if possible is which is the ground and which is the turn signal
