1990 Chevy C3500, 7.4L dooley, 2wd, crew cab Silverado. Replaced ICV, PCV, Carb cleaner, gas pattern is a perfect cone spray. spark plugs and wires replaced, ordered a Distributor. What is causing this known issue, "stall going into reverse?"

Hi, My name is ***** ***** for the delay.
I will do my best to assist you.

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

can you keep it running in reverse with the throttle?

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

does the engine light stay on?if so,can you give me the computer codes?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Tim, if you brake stand, rev, drop in reverse, it will go. Once going not as likely to stall. No engine light, no codes. I did the paper clip A to B pin. no codes. only time engine light comes on is when pulling 3 horses over 60mph, light comes on goes off after stopping for a while.

To be clear, I'm at work , but can still communicate and troubleshoot with you.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

ok

sense you get no codes..

lets remove and clean the egr valve,,it may have carbon on it not lettuing it close all the way, making a vacuum leak from the exhaust

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

after you clean the egr valve and if it still does this,,disconnect the vacuum line to it and plug it,if that fixes the problem,,replace the egr solenoid[this is what the vacuum line from the egr valve connects to]

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
aight, will get started on that this afternoon and reply with results. thanks Tim!
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

ok

please do

thanks

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
My mechanic says the EGR valve has been unplugged for a few months.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

ok..tellhim to remove it to be sure that it is closing all the way

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

then,,check for a vacuum leak around the throttle body..these gaskets will rot from under the throttle body sometimes

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

if all this checks out,,then you need to make sure the iac is adjusted correctly,i know you have installed one,,but make sure it is adjusted right.
