Customer Question

How do I remove the glovebox from a 2008 Chev Impala?
JA: Are you fixing your Impala yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, I am doing it myself but a video online shows two bolts at the bottom and that is not the case with this model.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hello I will help,

Do you just need to remove the glove compartment with the door or the panel behind the compartment as well?

Customer: replied 17 days ago.
I I need to take out the box so I can get to an actuator behind it.
Customer: replied 17 days ago.
Just send the reply via this. I am not paying more money. If you can't answer it now, don't charge my card. I need to do this before the sun goes down.

Ok, once you remove the box by pulling the hinge pins there are three screws on the top of the opening and four across the bottom.

How do I remove the hinge pins?
Expert:  George H. replied 17 days ago.

They slide out the sides. one end is larger than the other you pull on that end or use a small tool to push from the other

Customer: replied 17 days ago.
I see two hinges. I don't understand how to get the pins out.
Expert:  George H. replied 17 days ago.

The pins are pushed out the sides of the hinges

You took the damper off so the box opens all the way?

If not what video were you viewing?

Customer: replied 17 days ago.
Can I just open the box all the way (past the stops) so I can get to the actuator? Is there a way to do that?
Expert:  George H. replied 17 days ago.

No, you have to remove the inner panel that I showed in the first link I posted above. I don't know what actuator you are replacing?

Customer: replied 17 days ago.
The fresh air actuator. I am getting the clicking noise behind the glovebox.
Customer: replied 17 days ago.
I'm sorry but I do not see any way to get the hinge pins out. Are you sure you have a 2008 Impala?
Expert:  George H. replied 17 days ago.

Isn't that along the outside of the box next to the outside body?

The vehicle is identified on the diagrams I post.

If it is the recirc actuator that is accessed from under the dash along the outside.

Remove the panel on the end of the dash

Customer: replied 17 days ago.
This just isn't working. Thanks anyway.
Expert:  George H. replied 17 days ago.

What is not working? I am helping you avoid removing the glove compartment now that I know what your objective is.
