Big pry bar. The rear driveshaft, if rear u-joints are not rusted into the rear pinion, will easily slide approximately 2-3 inches forward upon removing the cap straps. If the driveshaft will not move forward and the rear u-joints are free, the slip-yoke going into the transfer case is for some reason seized. The most likely culprit is rusted u-joint caps I the rear of the driveshaft causing them to "stick" in the rear pinion. f this is the case, insert a large pry bar to the rearward side of the u-joint, pry forward with extra force to dislodge. Hope this helped!!
