Hi there,

The radio needs to be SPS programmed for the new VIN as a passthrough via Tech 2, or TIS2WEB on the GM SPS platform and an MDI.

At the moment it would have a VIN mismatch.

The radio should come out lock mode at the end of programming.

to make sure im correct here. If i purchase the original MDI pass thru, not the MDI 2, I will still be able to do the SPS programming. Correct? This is a 2007 car but new style body. Just want to get it out of lock mode for the guy and out of my shop. You think the MDI 1 will do that?

Do you have Tech2Win (Tech2 for Windows) program on a computer?

If you don't have that, might be better to sublet the car to a GM dealer and get them to do it for you.

I want to be able to do these things in my shop so I need to know the items I must have. So tech2 for Windows for sure then. Are their any files that I have to get from GM off of a certain website to program the car VIN specific?

Can I not use a SNAP ON pass thru ?

They are both good questions.

I would say that generally the Tech2Win program is only available to GM dealers.

I don't think even your Snap-On would have the capability.

The first page here has some info.

I've never googled Tech2Win myself, because I have it at work.

But there is other stuff out there too:

If you search for Tech2 on ebay, that may be an option as well.

You would still need a RS232 lead and a dongle for programming.

Hope this might help you.
