Replaced a fuel pump in a 2008 equinox awd 3.4 now the fuel

Customer Question

Replaced a fuel pump in a 2008 equinox awd 3.4 now the fuel gauge doesn't work. I replaced both sides with a ACdelco EP1026 float and a Dephi FG1300 pump. Why do some of these pumps have floats on the pump and some don't? Do I need to get a pump with float? The old one didn't have one so I got one without. Dropped tank again to make sure everything was right and I am not doing it again so I have to figure this out now.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you
today.
Before we get started though, Please understand that I don't know
your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that
I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does NOT replace a
repair shop.
My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for
my time. Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you
didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

That's just how they come, can't say for sure why they do that, but you do need the complete assembly.

Thanks, Ron

I understand I need the whole assembly but there are 2 different ones available 1 with float on main unit 1 with float on secondary unit. The one I used was float on secondary unit and I have no fuel gauge. And I did replace both units.
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 3 months ago.

Okay, the one I meant was the uniset for the main unit.

Thanks again and please remember to rate 5 stars and keep this link in case you need me again later on.

Even though the one I took out was the separate float? If so that's not a problem but I am not pulling that tank a 3rd time 2 was plenty.

Yes, agreed.

Thanks again,
