Customer Question

1997 chevy silverado 1500 v8 5.0 Check engine light on. Got a code p1153. Was told o2 sensor after cat which there is only 1. Replaced and did not fix problem. There are 3 o2 sensors before cat with one of them being directly in front. Is that the one I should have replaced. Code said bank 2 sensor 1.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you
Before we get started though, Please understand that I don't know
your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that
I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does NOT replace a
repair shop.
My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for
my time. Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you
didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

WHOA, let's do some testing before you run out of money. These parts are not cheap, and you should NOT be using aftermarket O2 sensors on these, it's too important of a sensor signal. These should be tested with a scope. See attachment.

Thanks, Ron
