JA: When you turn the key, do you get a single loud click, or a series of rapid ones?
Customer: nothing
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 2001 cavalier
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just shorting starter across. I text her and told them to try th 11 minute 3 times thing. its friends car
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I hooked jumpers on it when was their and it sparked like the battery was low, but it is a brand new battery don't know how long its been sitting

is this the 2.2l engine or the 2 .4l?

Do you know if it's the base model, the Z24 or LS and is the transmission an auto or manual?

To begin, check the "IGN" fuse in the underhood fuse block, left side of vehicle.

if it's a late production, then it will also have a "crank" fuse, same location as well as a "Batt 2" fuse, same place.

Here is the wiring diagram to those 2 starting circuits, early production on page 2 and late production on page 3.
