I HAVE A 2003 SUBURBAN 1500 WITH 5.3L ENGINE @ 150K MILES THAT CAN NOT TOW A 5000 LB TRAILER AT HW SPEED. WOULD LIKE TO SWAP IN A CRATE ENGINE WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? GV
JA: How many miles are on the car? Is it an automatic or a manual transmission?
Customer: 150K MILES, 4X4 W/ 4 SP TRANNY.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I PAID A SHOP TO PUT IN A USED 6.0L BLOCK WITHOUT MUCH IMPROVEMENT. I'm NOT A MECHANIC.

Switch to a big block. The 8.1 in the 2500 suburban is nice. Maybe you should think about swapping the 1500 and try to find a 2500 suburban.
