Customer Question

2007 Chevy 2500HD 6.6 - 104,000 miles. Been running strong. New batteries 18 months ago. Went to start today and won't fire at all. Click, click click from the dash panel - headlights dim when doing. Any ideas or help is much appreciated.

Also - alternator tested strong a month ago at 15-17. No recent repairs or service to the vehicle.

First start by charging up your batteries, then when they are fully charged, hold it to crank position and bang on the steering column and see if it fires up.

frequently an ignition switch issue can be found by jostling the switch

No success. Odd thing is too when turning the key to crank over - the dash panel blinks and buzzes - it's not the "typical" dead battery under the hood sound. Is it possible that this is all electrical?
Expert:  Ryan Schott replied 4 months ago.

yes but the lights dimming may also be a stuck starter or even the engine may be hydrolocked from an injector or a head gasket, so next i'd see if you can turn the engine by hand and make sure it will, if it does try tapping on the starter to see if it is stuck.
