The electric cooling fan is not starting thus the a/c will

Customer Question

The electric cooling fan is not starting thus the a/c will not work
JA: Does the engine turn over? How old is the battery?
Customer: It runs fine
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 2010 traverse
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes tested for power at the connector on the fan no power
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I'm thinking it's a bad relay. There are 3. Typically would all 3 be bad or just 1
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Chevy Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

The a/c will not start. The light flashes then does nothing

Doe the fan work when connected to direct power ?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
I have power to the fan it kicked in i didn't let it get hot enough. When you push the a/c button it flashes and doesn't do anything

I'm trying to troubleshoot the a/c. I thought the fan was my problem but I was too impatient
Expert:  Tom replied 5 months ago.

Ok you are in the correct direction about the relay. Most common is the a/c condenser or clutch relay have you tried to swap this relays out with a known good relay ? Also if the a/c system is over or under charged it will cause this issue as well s a shorting out a/c compressor clutch .

The compressor relay is good
Expert:  Tom replied 5 months ago.

Ok if you jump the relay does the compressor come on?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
I swapped the compressor relay with the horn relay the horn works with both of them
Expert:  Tom replied 5 months ago.

Ok thats telling you the relays good and it has to be the compressor itself if the compressor clutch does not come on when its jumped.
