ok, diagrams are very crude back then, I have attached the GM diagram but let me explain the system,

You have a junction block mounted on the firewall, Where the battery power all links up. You have then a few fuse links at that junction block, A red wire runs from there to the ignition switch, You turn key to CRANK and the switch send power on the PURPLE wire to the starter, so, if you check for power on the purple wire at stater while someone holds key to CRANK, you should have power, if none? get under dah and backprobe both RED wires at the ignition switch, If power? then switch is bad, if no power? then fuse link is bad at the junction block on the firewall. Here is diagram but is hard to read, I just know all the circuits after 38 years at this. I just tried to upload and is not working, does my description help
