Chevrolet Impala LS: My 2000 Impala 3.8L six cylinder randomly

Customer Question

My 2000 Impala 3.8L six cylinder randomly cuts out and dies at all driving conditions. Occurs when idling, city driving, highway driving, cold weather, hot weather, mild weather, in park, in neutral, in drive, with AC on, with AC off. There is no check engine light and no warning before it cuts out. It usually restarts in the first three attempts to start. Fuel pump is new. Runs fantastic except for the sudden cut out.

Hello, my name is***** to hear about your Impala. It sounds to me like you have a failing crank position sensor. Most of the time this sensor fails keeping the computer from getting an engine rpm signal. This kills the engine. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more help.
