Chevrolet Traverse LTgary: after driving awhile and then idling

Customer Question

As long as there are no unusual engine noises like ticking or knocking when the warning comes on, this is more commonly due to a faulty Oil Pressure Sensor. Over time, the internal resistance of the sensor tends to wear and the sensor has a hard time reading correct oil pressure when at normal operating temps and not under load (at idle). I do recommend that the "actual" oil pressure be tested to rule out any internal engine problems or clogs. If the actual oil pressure is within specs, inspect the electrical connector and wire hanress to the pressure sensor for any loose, broken, damaged or oil-soaked wires. If the visual inspection checks ok, replace the Oil Pressure Sensor. If my answer has helped you, please help me by leaving a rating or accepting my answer so I may be credited.
