Customer Question

I have a 2005 Chevy Avalanche 1500 that is intermittently locking me out. There is no response to the FOB. This has happened twice and the next day it started working again.

Hi there, I am Cam. Can I get your first name please?

When this happens, did you try the other fob?

Also when this happens, does the passengers window and mirror work?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
My name is***** only have the one fob which i replaced the battery in. I have no idea about the mirror because I am locked out of the truck when it happens.
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Are you not able to unlock with the key?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No the damn thing is jammed or something. Only have one door lock on the drivers side.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
This has only happened twice in the last two weeks. It just started working on its own both times on the next day.
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Ok, I would be suspecting the passengers door switch then. It’s the module that controls the remotes.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
you think I should replace that module?
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Can you tell me how much that cost me?
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
The answer not the module.
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

I think its worth testing when its failing. Cost is I think around 250 for the module, but I have not replaced one in a long time.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Could it just be the relay?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

No, there is no one single relay that would stop the doors from unlocking. In fact the rear doors use relays, the fronts use the modules itself, so to not have any unlocking or reaction from the truck suggests that module or wiring to it.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok I will try replacing that module. How much does this answer cost me?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

The cost you have paid in the form of a deposit, it shoes as $28, my portion is only released when you rate my service. After that you can still reply with follow up questions as needed.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Is module same as actuator?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

No, the module is the door switch assembly.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Will I have to relearn the remote?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Yes you will need to relearn the remote.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok I am gonna order the part and I will rate you when I get the job done.
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 10 months ago.

Ok.
