On a 2007 supercharged Cobalt SS, do you need head gasket

Customer Question

On a 2007 supercharged Cobalt SS, do you need head gasket sealer on the stock GM head Gasket. I've never used that type of gasket and it appears to have something like Teflon on it.

Hello, NO do not use any sealer, The material applied to the gasket is there for factory requirements, Just be sure all is clean and dry and since head torque is torque to yield you do Not reuse old headbolts, just sending that information if you did not know already, below from factory manual for reference

Note: DO NOT use any sealing material.

  1. Install the cylinder head gasket.
  2. Install the cylinder head.
  3. Install NEW cylinder head bolts.
