2007 HHR p0016 code. I installed all new timing chain

2007 HHR p0016 code. I installed all new timing chain components 3 months ago. Last week it started running sluggish and set the p0016.
When I clear the code it runs like a scalded dog.

  1. Ignition OFF, inspect the crankshaft balancer bolt for the proper torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

If the crankshaft balancer bolt is not at the proper torque, refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.

  1. Remove the intake CMP actuator solenoid.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between the control circuit of the CMP actuator solenoid and battery voltage. Connect a jumper wire between the low reference circuit of the CMP actuator solenoid and a good ground. The pintle of the solenoid should move.

¤If the pintle inside the CMP actuator solenoid does not move, replace the CMP actuator solenoid.

  1. Inspect the intake CMP actuator for binding or being stuck.
  2. Inspect the engine for correct valve timing.
