I have a limited slip ( I think) in a two wheel drive 2008

Customer Question

Mike, I have a limited slip ( I think) in a two wheel drive 2008 Silverado. There is noise sounding like whipping sound. Noticeable more at slow speed (city streets). The faster, the less noticable. Been going on for about three years. Thought it was tires. Eliminately tires, brake drums, etc. just axles. Found a small amount metal glitter on inspection plug & fluid low. Pulled rear plate -- did not see anything, but had nothing to check clearance or backlash.

Does the noise change when accelerating, coasting, or decelerating?
