I have a 1989 silverado. Right rear blinker and brake light

Customer Question

I have a 1989 silverado. Right rear blinker and brake light is out. The tail light is still working. I replaced the circuit board and that wasnt it. Any suggestions?

Do you have access to a test light or voltmeter?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have a test light

Have someone press brake and test voltage on Green wire at right rear taillight connector. Do you have voltage there?

Also try the hazard flasher. Does the right rear light up with hazard flasher?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No voltage on the green wire and no flashing with the hazards

Next you will want to check wiring under dash at column. Test green wire coming out of column for voltage as you did before. If there is no voltage present, the turn signal switch is faulty (brake light voltage comes through turn signal switch as well). If you do have voltage, repair the green wire between the column and the rear of the vehicle.

I found a faulty connection in the green wire which fixed the brake light. Also in the light green wire which fixed the blinker. Very helpful. Thank you
