I have a 1998 Chevy c1500 with a 4.3l v6. I started it up

Customer Question

I have a 1998 Chevy c1500 with a 4.3l v6. I started it up this morning and it started fine, but when I put it in reverse and tapped the accelerator it choked and died like it wasn't getting enough fuel. So I started it again and put it in drive and it did the same thing until it died again. Now it won't start whatsoever.

i am sorry your having this problem

will the truck somewhat run on starting fluid or carb cleaner being sprayed down the throttle body butter fly ?

Its the fuel pump. Waste of $28 dollars.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

why was it a waste ?

that is why i asked if it would run on starting fluid or carb cleaner as if it did the fuel pump would be bad
