I own a 2009 chevy k3500 dually cab & chassis w/ a utility

Customer Question

I own a 2009 chevy k3500 dually cab & chassis w/ a utility body.
There is a gas leak at the rear tank.
Because the sending unit is in a well, debris accumulates and seems to be causing rust there.
I have a 1998 K3500 dump that had a similar problem a few years back.
Do I need to order a new fuel pump for this rear tank before I take the tank down?
Any tips to make this miserable job any easier?
Thanks

You need to check the condition of the lock ring that holds the pump in the tank and the tabs the ring lock into for rust damage. You might need to replace the tank if it is rusted bad.

If you got a dump bed you should be able to remove the pump without dropping the tank.
