I have a 2005 chevy colorado crew cab with the 5 cylinder

Customer Question

Hi,
I have a 2005 chevy colorado crew cab with the 5 cylinder engine. In the mornings after I drive a hundred feet or so the engine acts like it is running out of gas and almost stalls. Sometimes it will stall completely. I had it in the shop and they couldn't find anything wrong. I put new spark plugs and fuel filter in and also put a brand new throttle body on the vehicle and this morning it did the same thing. Can you tell me why.
Thank you,
Dan Mercer (###) ###-####

Hi, no check engine light and I think they checked the fuel pressure when I had it in the shop. I changed plugs, throttle body and fuel filter

it would elp to know the fuel pressure. thats the starting point we need to be at. if it is not on your receipt, can you call and verify??

What is the best way to check the fuel pressure? The mechanic I deal with said if the fuel pump was the cause that the truck would not run at all.
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

thats not accurate. if you have lower than normal pressure, it will run but poorly.

you can rent a tester at a parts store to check the exact pressure.

Ok, what is the pressure needed and what do I do if the pressure is low?
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

50-57 lbs is the pressure. if it is low, the pump needs to be replaced.

Is the fuel pump in the gas tank?
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

that is correct. it is in the tank and contains the fuel sender unit as well.
