Hello,

When you turn the key just to the on position, does the security light come on and stay on after 15 seconds without trying to start it? Or does it come on for a couple seconds then go off?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It goes off

Thanks,

Good. it sounds like the security system isnt locking it out.

Thats the only thing that usually happens if it was running ok and all you did was disconnect the battery to repace the pump.

The most common reason for lack of spark is either the ignition control module or the crankshaft position sensor but its difficult to test. Below is some info on how you can test the ignition system and it will lead you to the cause.

Hi, you can try this:

30 Minute Learn Procedure

Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password ***** the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start.
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale; after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes; the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
  6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs, if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Keep in mind that if you have a wiring issue, this may not work, or it may work but the system will fail again at some point, until you have this accurately diagnosed and repaired.
