Hi, My name is ***** ***** for the delay.

I will do my best to assist you.

do you have the z throttle body engine or the w vortec engine?

do you hear the fuel pump come on for the first 2 seconds when you first turn the ignition on?

does the engine light stay on?if so,can you give me the computer codes?

tell me all you can

thanks

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
have a vortec engine, pump does come on, have fuel to filter. runs when I put fuel in intake but then shuts off when fuel gone.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

ok

tell me,,how much fuel pressure do you have?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
pressure unk but put hose on fuel line and sprayed fuel pretty good
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

these vortec engine are particular,,these must have no less than 55psi of pressure at all times

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

just having pressure there doesnt mean much,,you need to test the pressure

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

its got to have 55psi to push the fuel through the poppet injectors

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

if the pressure is good,,then you could have one of two problems killing the injector pulse

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

1-the ignition module-even though it has a spark on the plugs,,the ignition module can kill the injector pulse

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
will check pressure, what else could it be
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

2-the pick-up coil in the distributor,,the pick up can kill the pulse because it may not be telling the computer the engine is turning, thus, not activating the injectors

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
when I put fuel in intake it ran fine for a few seconds
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

i understand,,that tells us it isnt getting fuel

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

and it tells us you have a spark and the engine is in time

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 1 year ago.

so,,check the fuel pressure...if it is ok,,concider replacing the distributor with a new rebuilt unit

thanks
