Customer Question

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander Ls. 3.5 v6. All things were good until I tried to jump start a car. Didn't notice anything strange until I cut my van off and tried to start it back at a later time. Relays click repeatedly. Gauges flicker up n down. Dash says. Starting disabled. Service anti theft system. Charging system failure. Battery saver mode. I have a new battery, a new alternator and a new starter. Battery has 12.8 volts. Help

good morning my name is ***** ***** I will assist

chck the voltage at the battery while the engine is running. 12.8 is good with the engine off. you need 14 to 14.5 volts when running

jumping another car is never a good ides. that little spark that happens when you hook up the jumper cables is a voltage surge that all modules do not like and can cause failure of these modules. in your case, I think the body control module or bcm may have or is starting to fail from this voltage surge.

check the voltage at the battery first with the motor running.

Is the security light the red light on the radio. If so, yes it is flashing
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It stops when I turn the key on.
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

ok, try this.

do you have a yellow security light or key light on the dash???

if you do, try this

turn the key to start and return to the on position. let it sit for 10 minutes, then do it a second time, 10 minutes and do it a third time. thats when the module will learn the password ***** it hopefully will start. if not then you damaged one of the modules from jump starting.

The only security light I know of is the red small light on the radio.

Prob is. When I connect battery and key is turned to on. The negative battery post will get really hot and drain battery. When I try to crank it. The starter will click but then the van says. Starting disabled.

does it spark when you connect the cable???
Roy

I believe the car I jumped possibly had something grounded out because her car would never start and mine would rev higher when she would try to start it. Just wondering what would that mess up in mine.
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.
it sounds like you have damaged some modules. the body control module and the pcm are the main modules. if they are damaged then yes, it will not start.

Anyway to tell which one I need to replace. Or both?
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.
you would need a scan tool that can access the body control module and the pcm to see what information it can see and command different things to work.
it may also be wiring harness as well. I am trying to look at a diagram of the system.

Ok any other thoughts
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

you need to do the checks to see if you have sufficient voltage for the system to start.

check the starter relay under the hood for voltage
