Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LT: Cam, I have an 05 avalanche z71.

Customer Question

Cam, I have an 05 avalanche z71. 107k miles that has become difficult to start, Turning over for 2 or 3 seconds before firing or requiring a second attempt. I travel the south east extensively and fear a break down far from home. Please advise regarding additional info needed. Checked for codes with an in nova scanner, found none. Thanks, Jay

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I'm here to help get your problem solved. Does it ever idle low or stall while coming to stops? Thanks.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No never stalls and idle is consistent.

It sounds like you probably have a weak fuel pump not building up pressure soon enough. You can start by cleaning throttle body but that will usually cause stalling too. If that doesn't help next step is a fuel pressure test, fuel pressure should be around 60 psi while cranking if not replace the fuel pump. Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions, thanks.

What brand of fuel pressure test tool would you recommend and what should I expect to spend?

Most parts stores have a universal kit they will barrow out for free. Let me know how it goes or if you turn into more questions, thanks.
