I have a 93 chev 1/2 ton 4x4 5 speed. I replaced the 4.3 litre engine with a 94 5.7 litre. I purchased a salvage pcm unit from a 93 chev 5.7 litre 4x4 5 spd. service # ***** 4.3 pcm unit is16144288 BCMS.The service # ***** salvage unit is 16171199bdpf. Original 4.3 VIN is1GCEK1428PZ160342. I'll see if I can find that info, but I will tell you that you should have looked for an ecm from a 1994. That was rigth around the time when they switched from obdi to obdii.

ecm?
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
Engine Control Module, same as Powertrain Control Module. Back then they were called Engine Control Modules
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
I don't see that listed for a 1994 engine. See here http://www.autozone.com/engine-management/engine-control-computer/cardone-reman-engine-control-computer/chevrolet/k2500-3-4-ton-p-u-4wd/1993/8-cylinders-k-5-7l-tbi/59258_473751_0/

I did grab a 94 unit but the plug ins are different and the PROM is different
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
First of all you will have to find a prom specifically for that engine and vehicle. You just said, " I purchased a salvage pcm unit from a 93 chev 5.7 litre 4x4 5 spd. " Then you said, "The service # ***** salvage unit is 16171199bdpf."Read this, http://www.autozone.com/engine-management/engine-control-computer/cardone-reman-engine-control-computer/chevrolet/k2500-3-4-ton-p-u-4wd/1993/8-cylinders-k-5-7l-tbi/59258_473751_0/

You need one of these, http://www.autozone.com/engine-management/engine-control-computer/chevrolet/k2500-3-4-ton-p-u-4wd/1994/8-cylinders-k-5-7l-tbi

The salvage ecm is 93 the engine is 94.So there must be different sensors on the 94 motor that need changed to 93 part numbers?
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
Ok, I don't know what you meant by "unit" then. You need an ecm from a 1994.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The ecm from a 94 will not plug in. The jacks are not same.
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
OK, then you are asking what need to be done to that 1994 engine in order for it to work with a 1993 engine wiring harness and 1993 ecm/prom?
Expert:  Mike S. replied 1 year ago.
I don't know where to start with that. I suppose someone has done this before but I have not. I assume you don't want to just find a 1993 5.7 engine. I don't know what differences there are between the 2.
