Chevrolet Monte Carlo: Experiencing a small but noticeable

This answer was rated:

Experiencing a small but noticeable whine when accelerating. I have tried pressing the gas pedal while in park and neutral and the noise is reduced. Could power steering be the problem? Loose belts? I am very limited in car knowledge

any difference in the noise when turning?

any difference in the noise with ac on and with it off?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Noise only comes when wheel is turned fully locked in one direction. No difference with the ac

Ok, that indicates that the noise is coming from the bearings at the power steering pump shaft. The power steering pump will need to be replaced and the fluid flushed in order to resolve this
