this kind of problem is usually caused from low fuel pressure a possible plugged cat convertor and sometimes the MAF sensor
did this problem happen out of the blue one day ?
are there any codes in the computer?
do you have any access to a fuel pressure gauge ?
Hi Gary it happened yesterday pulled into the gas station got gas
started the truck put it in drive went about 3 feet
and it died ,it will start but it takes a little time ,
but step on the gas it dies,I don't have a pressure gage
PO108 was a code that came up
90% of these issues are fuel pump failures
since it just did this out of the blue we can rule out the plugged cat convertor
unplug the MAF connector and see if it will run for you
if it does the MAF sensor or the connector to it is bad if it still does this the odds are the fuel pump has failed ( usually happens after I fuel fill it seems I don't know why but it does )
confirming this with a fuel pressure gauge is the next step if the MAF unplug doesn't work
Hans if the fuel pump is bad the fuel tank will need to be removed to change it and also make sure you install a new fuel filter !
the 108 is a MAP code and usually its set with an engine running bad any dying out
a scan tool would need be connected to diagnose that code but I think that code is set from it stalling

ok at this point it has to have low fuel pressure
its more than likely going to need a fuel pump but you need confirm fuel pressure with a test gauge 56 - 62 PSI key ON engine OFF
if its below that spec it needs a fuel pump
ok so where do I go from here ,its 20 miles to town
the fuel pump works ,but not putting out the pressure
it needs ,how can I conferm 62lb without a gauge
or do i need a geuinnie?
Hans I would hate to guess without knowing the PSI of the fuel pressure
but if it will not run with the MAF unplugged and since it happened out of the blue I doubt its the cat convertor it would more than likely be low fuel pressure which the fuel pump would need to be changed

Hi Gary ,are you avalibal today .
you were right ,but something is not right ,the truck runs like crap
I also broke one of the ear's off the disrtributor that holds the cap down
I don't know if that would cause it ,or could I have hooked up the fuel lines wrong
it seems take longer to get it to start ,it hesitates and may or not die when I step on the gas ,sputters ,some back firering ,and left to idol, it
seems to die in a few minets
how do I check the fuel pressure
where do I hook it up

but I don't have a tester
so I guess I'll have to go get one
the little ear that holds the distributor cap to the distributor ,not the ear on the cap.
how can I fix that ??

well I put the tester on the the fuel line
we have 20 psi at an idel ,,,,,,whats up with that??
new pump ,new filter,?????
with the key on ,engin off ,it gives me 10 psi I'll try and get volt test
Ok with the key on I have 12 volts ,when cranking it drops to 9.3

what is the module ? I only saw a pump and gas gauge
when I got the pump the first time it was for a 1996 ,
it did not work, the old pump was from a 1995 ,
so I thought someone may have swaped tanks
then it would have to be a bad pump I guess??
no they did not look the same
they were slighty diffrent ,but 1996 would not fit in the holder
thats why I had to go back and exchange ,so am I pulling tank agin?

It was the map sensor ,old fuel pump is good
