This answer was rated:

Hi,
This is me again.. but this time I have different issue. How can I change the spark plugs? Also, where is the PCV valve and how to change as well?

GMman8085 :

Hello my name is XXXXX XXXXX I can help

GMman8085 :

This engine does not have a PCV valve it is built into the valve cover

Customer:

Hmm.. where exactly

GMman8085 :

The right valve cover has a orifice drilled in it. There is no valve any more

Customer:

Ok I understand... What about spark plugs?

GMman8085 :

Need to remove the upper intake to get the coils out than remove the plugs

GMman8085 :

Spark plugs are 100.000 mile plugs

Customer:

You know I feel that the car performance is below the expectation

Customer:

what to do to optimize the performance

Customer:

Now the plugs almost 55 miles running (85,000km)

Customer:

sorry 55k miles

GMman8085 :

They should be ok

Customer:

Ok what do you advise to make sure that the performance is ok?

GMman8085 :

Do you have any engine lights?

Customer:

No

GMman8085 :

What is it doing?

Customer:

When you accelerate it won't give you the real acceleration like before..

Customer:

I am not happy with that

Customer:

i feel something consuming power without output

GMman8085 :

the truck front wheel drive or all wheel drive

Customer:

FWD

GMman8085 :

Does the trans fell like it is first gear on take off

Customer:

Yes.... transmission shifiting is ok. but sometime on the highway at fixed speed, it will be 6th gear and suddenly will go back to 4th or 5th gear for 30 secs then will go back to 6th gear with pressing on the acceleration pedal.

Customer:

"without pressing..

Customer:

sorry for typo error

GMman8085 :

ok

Customer:

transmission oil I am changing every 10,000 km plus mines.

GMman8085 :

With out any codes or being able to drive it . Hard to tell you what to do. Can you test drive another Traverse

Customer:

the milage now is almost 133,000km

GMman8085 :

We have had trouble with trans wave plates breaking. the fluid has a lot of metal in it

GMman8085 :

slow reverse

Customer:

the transmission fluid is clean and there is no metal with it.

Customer:

the reverse gear is normal

Customer:

Actually, I am asking for the reasons which affect the performance...(spark plugs, solenoid valves, ...etc )

Customer:

what you recommend to check?

Customer:

from simple parts to the complicated ones?

Customer:

the possibilities?

GMman8085 :

I would start with mass air flow sensor clean it. Check air filter. Check fuel pressure.

GMman8085 :

Do you have a scan tool to check for codes that may be in history but not turning the light

Customer:

no, I don't... I am going to check what you have mentioned first in my home.

Customer:

what else?

GMman8085 :

when it is cold does it run any better

Customer:

yes

GMman8085 :

  • could have catalytic converter plugging. May have the two front o2 sensors giving false reading when they go into closed loop. When the warm up

GMman8085 :

We have had a lot of computer program updates may want to have it checked

Customer:

really?..

Customer:

first, where these sensors are located?

Customer:

second, how to do this kind of software update?

GMman8085 :

oxygen sensor are in the exhaust manifold

GMman8085 :

Need to take it to a dealer or some one who has the equipment

Customer:

ok I will check and come back to you tomorrow

Customer:

anything else about the software?

GMman8085 :

Most of the update helps trans shifting

GMman8085 :

Please don't forget to rate me

Customer:

but these updates can be done only in a workshop? or not?

GMman8085 :

yes

Customer:

can be downloaded through the internet

GMman8085 :

from GM site Dealer only or If some workshop paid for the right to do it

Customer:
