hello my name is mike
hello so u have a no start now?after booster replacement
ok first of all do u have spark and fuel?
good question haven't checked but it was running fine before booster change
did take off cover and poured some gas in carbeurator and no difference stil turned over but nothing
ok i understand either the engine will have no spark or no fuel one is causing this issue
ok so u tried a alternative fuel source down the tbody
what and how do you want me to check first?
ok so most likely u have no spark, have u checked the fuses in the underhood fuse panel
yes which ones in particular I could check again
ok let me ask u this first u say u have a carburetor is that correct or do u have fuel injection?
ok is this the original engine?
because this engine should be fuel injected
ok i want u to check the ignition fuse, but check them all
let me know ill wait
ok am doing that now
also check the ecmb and ecm1 fuses
ok did u check the ecm b fuse and ecm 1 fuse
checked all the fuses saw a ecm 1 but not a ecm b?
checked both fuse box under hood and on dash panel
and all were good
not sure about the square larger fuses?
do u have a voltmeter
i have a multimeter
i know this might seem elementry but what settings do i need to put it on to check the fuse
it all depends on what meter u have does it say dc volt ?
Ignition module is mounted where?
also have a simple test light My son has the multimeter that he got for xmas but not sure hopw to set it.
if u are sitting in the vehicle it is above the right valve cover
first thing is where is the ignition module?
the ign module is mounted above the right valve cover of the engine
if u are sitting in the vehicle if u are looking from the front its the left valve cover
do u need a diagram?
that would be helpful
ok thats fine give me a min
so if i am looking at the engine from outside the car its on the right? next to the driver side front tire?
no if u are looking from outside the vehicle its on the left side passenger side above valve cover
ign module has like a spark plug wire coming in top and then a three wire connector?
do u see a image
yes the coil is on the same bracket as the ignition coil
the wire is connected to the ign coil goes to ignition cap
what do you want me to check?
2. The Pink wire should have key on B+ at terminal A. with key in the on position 3. Black/White should be a good ground.
trying to follow. but don't quite understand. "the pink wire should have key on B+ at terminal A."
termial "A" is what is shown in the diagram?
ok ill try and explain better the pink wire on the ignition module should have power with the key in the on position the black/white wire should be good ground
u can use the testlight for this test,,,,the terminal a is the pink wire on the ignition control module wire connector
the diagram shows u all the electrical components under the hood i was trying to help u find the module with this diagram
have power to pink wire
ok do u have ground on the black/white wire
tested the pink wire with the black/white wire and beep
ok so we know the module is getting power and ground,
do u have a spare spark plug around
no i do not have a spare laying around
nvm found one
ok i want u to remove the coil wire at the distributor install your plug into the end of the wire, crank the engine and see if the spark plug has spark
houston we have a problem
lol lol ok u have either a bad ignition control module or a bad coil
do you have a diagram of the location of those?
they are on the same bracket u just tested power and ground at the module
is there a way to test which one it is?
the wire u took off the distributor cap was it the center one
i just took the wire off the spark plug and put the spare plug on it
ok no u cant do that u need to test for spark at the distributor coil wire,
so i need to unplug the wire from the distributor cap and put the spare plug there then test for fire?
yes the wire u take off the cap is the center wire it goes from the coil to the cap (center wire) on cap
well there are 4 wires on each side of the distributor cap
ok its that style cap remove the wire that goes from coil to cap at cap then check
you were talking about the wire right next to the coil
just tested that and there was fire to that
ok so u have fire from the coil?
i had unpluged the wire from the spark plug and plugged another sparkplug in that wire. but that was not what you were asking me to test.
ok let me ask u this do u have spark to the spark plugs or just off the coil wire
do u have spark at the engine spark plugs or the plug u put into the coil wire?
just tested that
i have a spark at the coil wire like you asked me to test
then i tested the spark at the engine plug and i have a spark there too
ok is the spark at the coil wire the same as at the plugs nice blue color spark
it was much stronger at the coil
ok your problem is week spark u need a distributor cap and rotor
if u remove the cap im sure u will find corrosion under cap
ok so should i check for corrosion first
yes but if it is corroded replace it they are cheap
ok im going to check that
while im checking that (on a side note do you have a diagram or know the location of the windsheild washer pump for a 2006 eclipse GT)
yes it is in the windshield washer tank mounted on the bottom u may have to remove the plastic inner fender to get to it.
yes there was some corrosion in it
but i have no way of getting the part tonight is there any way we can follow up tomorrow?
change it with a new one and get a rotor to im sure thats the problem
a33 is the wire connector to the washer pump...
make sure u print these diagrams they will be usefull down the road
the rotor is corroded too
yeah i figured that
i guess it was just coincidence
yes they fail all the time i probably see 1 a week at the shop
do u have any more questions for me?
is there any way we can follow up tomorrow?
yes once u leave rating i can schedule a follow up with u and we can still chat.
do i have to pay again?
or i can leave the chat open but remember i dont get credit for my time untill u leave rating,
i can save it if u would like..
yeah sure we can leave it open
i didn't know if this timmed out or something
ok no problem i will leave it open but yes it does time out after 24 hrs
well what is easyer to leave it open or to save the chat?
i will save the chat untill u are satisfied with my answer we can chat tomorrow just log in and message me and i will respond asap
ok sound great. i'm going to get the part first thing in the morning. hopefully I can get it to crank so that i can check the vacuume pump with the brakes
ok sounds good let me know what happens.
can you walk me through logging back into the chat
yes just login with your user and password XXXXX go to your questions u will see our chat, click on it and u should be there
ok sweet. thank you
no prob have a good night
can i just leave this open bc i don't remember creating a user name and password
u dont have a user and pass
then yes just leave it open do not close it or we may not be able to chat any more
ok will do
changed everything this morning didnt start the first time
but took it apart and put it back together and vvrruummm started up
just changed the distributor cap and the rotor not the wires and the plugs yet. will do eventually
thanks for all the help
still having problems are you available?
