Chevrolet Impala: 2006 Chevy Impala v6 3900 overheated

This answer was rated:

Hello, My 2006 Chevy Impala v6 3900 overheated tonight. I am thinking it's a bad water pump/seal as there is a splatter pattern around the engine, firewall and hood in line with the serpentine hose. I was thinking of doing an "all of the above" approach and replacing the pump and thermostat at the same time. However, I can't find ANYthing on if I'm barking up the right tree. Can you help?  I also would like any diagrams that might help identify the pully assembly and how to loosen the tensioner if you can provide that?

Welcome to JustAnswer, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I'm here to help get your problem resolved. If its obvious leak is comming from around water pump then I agree to replace water pump and thermostat. Make sure to replace thermostat with OEM one from dealer, water pump can be aftermarket. Here are replacement instructions for belt, pump, and thermostat. Let me know if you have questions or if there is anything else I can do to help. Thanks.
