Customer Question

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer and it will not crank and i don't hear the fuel pump running when turn the ignition switch on. I have tested the starter by bypassing everything.

When you turn the key on, do you see the check engine light in the dash?

Yes in run position all lights are lit when I turn to start all dash lights go out except I think the seat belt light.

Pop the tilt lever out and take the lower trim of the column off. With your multimeter set to DC volts, place the red lead on the red wire. With the switch turned on, test the other leads with the black wire. Record the reading and let me know what those are. Repeat the test on the red/white wire. Let me know the results.

the Blazer is locked in a repair yard i can check that tomorrow on my lunch break.

there are 3 red wires a large approx 10 ga red wire and 12/14 ga red wire and a 20 ga red wire and i do see one small red wire with white stripe.

The 2 thick reds are the ones I am after.

numbers werenearly identical with either the red wire or the red/white wire. as follows brown=12v, red/white=1.62v, yellow=9v, green= 11.35,orange/black stripe=11.35v, white=0v, hvy orange=0v, hvy brown=0v,pink=.03v,red=0v

If you hold the key in crank, does the yellow get 12v?

not yet, i bypassed thru the main fuse box, in the engine compartment
