I have a 2002 corvette and it is 900 miles away. It runs fine at low rpm, but when you start to speed up as to pass, it starts running very rough! The Mr. Good wrench mechanics are just throwing parts at it! First MAP sencer replaced as wel as PCV Tube replaced as well as a few other parts. Had to take it back, due to it still not right! Now they replaced both O2 sencers and the fuel filter. They still have it and I feel that my wife and I are getting a run around! Any thoughts? Mike
Country: United StatesMake: ChevyModel: CorvetteYear: 2002Engine: LS1 Already Tried: Mr. Good wrench has replaced Map sencer and PCV tube. Now they replaced both O2 sencers and the fuel filter. Car is still not runnibg at hiher rpm. They said they called corvette to find out what is wrong-Corvette said it could be the Motor-?Why would the motor be bad if it runs fine at lower rpm? Or they said it could be trans-? and last that it may be the exhaust? I feel they are just throughing parts at it hoping to fix it! Mike
Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is Steve.I'd just like to ask you a couple of questions first. How many miles are on the Corvette?Does the "Service Engine Soon" light come on while driving the vehicle?
The car has about 81,000 miles on it and I don't know if service engine light is on? I would have thought in all the talks someone would have told me if the light was on! I did have one thing happen just before she left> A stsement came on the dash and said the tracktion control was warming up-? Never saw that before! Then alittle later it came on again and said the traction contol was disconnected! The car has been troble free until this point! My wife said that the gas mileage fell to 14miles per gallon on the trip. It had always been 30-32 on a road trip.Mike
Hi MikeObviously the car is getting to much fuel when gas mileage drops that much as you may know. The thing that concerns me is why they changed both O2 sensors.Usually when an O2 reads bad on the scanner there are reasons for it. The O2 itself is usually fine. There are many things that can cause an O2 to read bad.The symptoms that you have listed usually indicate a coolant sensor, air intake temperature sensor,or bad fuel pressure regulator. If any of those go bad it will cause it will cause to much gas to be injected into the cylinders. When that happens the O2 sensor will read bad on the scanner because the O2 is monitoring the exhaust and trying to compensate for the extra gas. There could also be a vacuum leak. The Gm guys should know this. If you get a chance talk to them and ask them what the exact O2 readings were before they changed the sensors.Be sure and tell them that you want to know the exact millivolt reading. They might not like you asking that question but you're entitled to know that. Also those readings will help me a lot to help with the diagnosis.I think the traction control is another issue unless the mechanic bumped something while changing parts which is possible.Let me know what you find out.
Thank you so much for the help! It turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. The bill ended up being outragous
