Hi my name is XXXXX XXXXX XXXX complete satisfaction is my goal. Please provide as much information about your concern as you can.
Are any codes set??
no there are no stored codes
Do you have cranking RPM as indicated on a scan tool?
not understanding question
Do you have a scan tool ?
yes it's a matco
Ok, look at the RPM reading while cranking the engine. Does it read RPM while cranking?
it doesn't read rpm
Ok, Then check the ECM 1 fuse in the under hood fuse box . Is it good and does it have power on it with the key in run?
yes
Sorry I gave you the wrong diagn. I am working on two systems and looked at the wrong diagram.
On your truck the Crankshaft sensor is powered by the ECM. To check weather the ECM is sending power to the crankshaft sensor, you have to disconnect it ( behind the starter) and test for power on the lt green wire.
Check to make sure the sensor has power. Then check for ground on the Yellow black wire.
no power at green wire. ground at yellow wire
Ok you need to find out why. check this circuit from the ECM to the crank sensor. I would look around the upper engine where the harness breaks out of the main harness just behind the red acessory tap on the bracket. I have seen this bracket pinch the harness and cause the wire to break. If you cannot find the problem area, then run a new circuit from the ECM to the crank sensor. Check the harness just as it comes out of the ECM also. Dirt can get into the harness loom and cause corrosion in the wires to start. The connector at the ECM is going to be the blue connector pin #2 for the 12 volt supply to the crank sensor. See if you have power at the ECM pin 2 of blue connector. If so then the wire is open/broken. If there is no power at the ECM then replace the ECM.
Let me know if you need further assistance and or connector diagrams.
Thanks Hal
