Please realize that all my answers are based solely on the info that you provide me with.Does the engine run on starting fluid if you were to disconnect the fuel system? Are there any codes in the computer?
It does not fire with starting fluid. The only code is 12. However, I did have the battery disconnected following the failure, don't know if that's a factor.
Ok.. have you checked ignition timing? What about engine compression?
Up until it died, it had been running fine. I filled it with fuel, drove about 3 miles and stopped at a traffic light. When the light changed, I started through the intersection and it started to lose power then died.
This engine should run on starting fluid if you were to disconnect the fuel system. If NOT, then either the ignition or valve timing if off. I guarantee it!
How would valve timing just be off and how can I check that. I have a timing light but will need to wait until someone can crank for me while I watch since I can't do both at the same time.Thanks.
Broken or jumped timing chain would cause the valve timing to be off. It would need to be replaced.I hope this helps!
