A1999 engine is vin#4 and a 2001 is A vin# XXXXX
Okay, but can a 2001 be adapted to fit into a 1999? The truck is a small 2-wheel drive automatic. If the engine is from aXXXXXautomatic, why will it not fit? Or be made to fit? and what would have to be done?
Give me a minute I want to check something out on this
OK it will bolt to you trans
You most likely will have to change intake and exhaust system from one block to the other
I don't know what I am talking about here, but the question I got from the Chevy dealer said "it depends on your pan configuration (and something about tie rods thrown in here), if manifolds corresponds..." anything I just said make sense? And other than taking the intake and exhaust system off the blown engine and putting them on the 2001 engine, this should work?
Their saying you may have to change oil pan that is no problem , and yes I think you will be good to go
Thank you! This is enough info that my boys should be able to pull this off.
I just puled up part # XXXXX oil pan and it is the same
thank you ever so much.
IS ther any thing else I can do for you. Doug
no. this should do it. Before I bought the 2001 block I had to be sure it would go in the 1999 truck. Got conflicting answers....about half of the wrecking yards were telling me the 1999 truck would take only the 1999 engine...which I could not get at a price I can pay.
decided to ask people who actually work on these things
