2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD 4x4 Transfer Case Motor Encoder

Customer Question

2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD 4x4 Transfer Case Motor Encoder Ring Sensor- Could this cause the switch on the dash to randomly put the truck in 4WDL, or 4WDH? When I turn the truck off I’m in 2WD, then if I go to start the truck the switch indicates truck is in a different gear then I left it in. I replaced the switch thinking it was bad, but that didn't make a difference. Could it be the encoder ring sensor? I already put a new transfer case on in June of 2009. Please help spending money left and right and still not fixed.

ok

to me,this sounds as if your problem may be the transfer case control module,,,sense it will shift by itself,it doesnt seem to be the sensor

thanks
