Were any sensors damaged?
How did it run with the fuel sprayed into the intake?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
no sensors appear damaged. it seems to run fine when sprayed. if a sensor were damaged would that not affect spark or injector opperation?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 5 years ago.
Usually it would. So what is the fuel pressure?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
fuel pressure 55-60 lbs
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 5 years ago.
Did you check that pressure when it was cranking and did it hold with the key off?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
fuel pressure 55-60 lbs cranking holds at 55lbs with key on after cranking
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 5 years ago.
Did you check that the injectors are not plugged? You have a noid light working and proper pressure so that is all I can think of, plugged injectors. Take them out and flow test them.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
pulled the fuel rail and cycle key. injectors spray fuel. how do i flow test them?
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 5 years ago.
This is not making sense, you have spark or it would not fire, you have fuel, so that leaves compression, did you do a test after the chain slipped?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
it makes sense now. it looks like kerosene or diesel mixed with the gas. smells ok but we sprayed the injector on a mirror and it looks oily and doesnt evaporate. never would have thought it could have run when the timing chain went. thanks for all your help tom
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 5 years ago.
That would do it.
