GM Tech (Cam) :

Hello, I'm Cam. Please include all the details about your issue so I can accurately advise you. I cannot see your vehicle so please be detailed.

GM Tech (Cam) :

ARe you sure it is engine oil and not transmission oil?

Customer:

Not 100% sure but appear to be clean oil from recent change. Seems heavier than transmission oil.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Did it start after the last oil change?

Customer:

No. It seems heavier though than before.

GM Tech (Cam) :

I would suspect the oil filter, oil pan, possibly intake or valve covers.

GM Tech (Cam) :

These engines are common for leaking oil

Customer:

Don't think it's oil filter. Any idea on estimates for either oil pan, intake of valve cover gasket replacements?

GM Tech (Cam) :

I can look, for each, hold on.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Is this super charged?

Customer:

No

GM Tech (Cam) :

ok

GM Tech (Cam) :

are you in

GM Tech (Cam) :

CA?

Customer:

No

GM Tech (Cam) :

one moment .

GM Tech (Cam) :

valve coves, 3.4 hours, 23$ part cost each .

GM Tech (Cam) :

oi pan gasket 4.2 and part is 65

GM Tech (Cam) :

intake gasket lower so both is 4.2, part is 65

Customer:

Alldata indicates that oil pan requires lift of motor and removal of mount struts. Is that correct? Looks as though there is an oil sensor on opposite side of pan plug. Could that be leaking? So are you telling me that lower intake and oil pan be under same labor time together of 4.2 and each part about 65?

GM Tech (Cam) :

yes that is correct.

GM Tech (Cam) :

The sensor may be and if so can be simply changed

GM Tech (Cam) :

No the oil pan and intake gaskets are each 65 and each take 4.2 hours.

GM Tech (Cam) :

but this is simply offering the costs, it needs to be inspected to see which is leaking.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Is there any questions about this?

Customer:

Very well. Helpful. Have appt. with dealer in morning to inspect. Wanted to know some scenarios that they might come back with. Thanks.
